Impressive! A Real Pocket Rocket My 1st experience of Fire OS,I’m impressed so far,I like the Amazon take on Android, clean and simple. It is very cute and seems much faster than the hardware seemed to suggest it would be.Its really well made and feels very strong.I was worried that 6inches would be too small, however my worries were unfounded,it’s really easy to read and navigate.Screen resolution is pin sharp and words don’t look pixellated in the least.Cameras are functional rather than spectacular, the rear one is ok in good light and photos look fine viewed on a tablets screen. The keyboard and word suggestion seems better implemented than iOS and Android. The speaker is surprisingly strong, but it would have been nice to have had dual speaker ports. The only criticisms are the omission of the extra speaker port and that the tablet seems a little heavy, however it’s only 290 grams.Infact the weight actually gives it a feeling of solidity and strength. As for apps,it took about 2mins to put 1Mobile Market on the…

A little beauty of a bargain – I love it! This little tablet is pretty much bottom of Amazon’s tablet range and I love it! I’ve had several Kindle e-readers, my children have previous Kindle Fire 7″ tablets, and I’ve also got a tablet from the top of Amazon’s range (the 2013 Kindle Fire HDX 8.9″) which I use a lot. It is smaller, neater, fits into a smaller handbag or pocket, and much easier to hold with one hand, even for someone like me who has relatively small hands. It’s very much like a paperback book in its form factor and that is, I think, why it works so well for reading. Some people won’t like reading for extensive periods from a back-lit screen. I don’t find it a problem (and there are four different background colours you can have white, green, black (with white text) and sepia) although for reading in bright sunlight you will be better off with an e-ink…
